In case anyone is wondering how my journey to exploring and accepting my Jewish identity is going, last night I had dinner with a Jewish friend and he was telling me about his extremely Orthodox sister, and I wanted to flaunt my great new knowledge, and thought of the Jewish harvest festival of sukkot in which you build a beautiful structure in your yard and sleep under the stars, relying on God to protect you from the elements just as the Jews did in the desert after they were exiled, and I actually said to this man’s face, oh, so she builds a Suck it in her backyard? And he very graciously told me it’s actually pronounced Soo-coat, NOT suck-it, but now that’s forever what it will be to me. HAPPY SUCK IT, FELLOW QUARTER JEWS!
