I’m using a service called imemories to digitize a bunch of old family pictures. Packing the pictures carefully into to shipping pre-paid box that shouts iMEMORIES on its side, I feel the future as the present. I look at each picture and try and remember it, in case it gets lost (imemories swears not a single picture has EVER been lost.) Some of the pictures are so special that I take a picture of them with my phone so that at least they’ll be there. I look at the picture of the picture on my phone and try and remember the moment, a family trip to Baltimore or DC? But it’s lost somewhere, it’s already in the imemories box, it’s been shipped to Indiana, to the cloud, to the past, to the future, it’s on an USB on its way to me yesterday.
