And I Quote.

Yesterday, director, dramaturg and I met with an incredibly kind and insightful psych professor and therapist to bombard him with questions about contemporary malaise in a tiny french bakery while outside, it monsooned. We got loads of info, the most intriguing being this notion that  our environments dictate new illnesses (Illness as a Metaphor / Susan Sontag.)  Being that this man is a practicing therapist, I found it important to be as clear and honest with him as possible.

THERAPIST: I’m really intrigued by the relationship between the sisters in the play, do you have a sister?

ME: Nope! But I’m a gemini. I have a fractured nature. So it’s like I have a sister, but she lives inside of me.

Beat.

THERAPIST: …Here’s my card.
