Sometimes I worry that I have, as Evan would say, ‘A Case of the Dumbs’ when it comes to talking about plays. Sure, I’m no critic, and I’m not supposed to be, but people, I have a Master’s Degree! I should be able to articulate observations and questions I have about plays that I hear and see. But I’ve just started the Primary Stages writer’s group and I sadly find myself to be not the sharpest tool in the shed. I think I’m rusty? Nearly 3 years since finishing grad school, I guess that would make sense. But: I think I refuse to accept this. WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT! And stuff! I think I’ll start by talking about 2 excellent plays I saw this weekend, with no pressures of profundity. I will just try and be a bit more specific then ‘it was way awesome’ or ‘un-awesome, it was.’
