Just documenting the Nothing Game here, before I forget it. It goes like this. Many mornings, let’s say most of them, while we’re all eating breakfast, we play the Nothing Game. It goes like this:
Joe (fully pantsless): Hey Dad, guess what?
Morrison: (still waking up)….What?
Joe:….NOTHING.
We all laugh uproariously, even Bobbie.
Morrison (waking up more) Hey Joe
Joe: (still pantsless): WHAT
Morrison:….Nothing.
We all laugh, somehow even more.
Me: (intermittent fasting, smelling Joe’s waffle) Hey Joe
Joe:….what
Me:………………………..nothing
Joe: WHAT?!
We all laugh, delighted by ourselves, and our game, occasionally tossing in a CHICKEN BUTT but most what is up is nothing, positively not Anything. Maybe it’s a reminder that while we have everything, there is also Nothing. Each time we all pretend it’s never happened before, because there was no before, and there is no after, there is only the Nothing Game, it’s the song that never ends, until it must, but only until Tomorrow.
