the cake and I

Yes, I wrote a play about Cake and I bake a lot of them, and I talk a big game about how much I love Cake, and one might think it’s just talk, or whimsy, or perhaps just my desperate clawing at idiosyncrasy. But then also, my neighbor just left a GIANT slice of her daughter’s birthday cake on our front step, carrot with cream cheese frosting, and I brought it inside, set it next to my computer while I worked, thinking, I will finish this work, and then I will take a picture of this massive piece of cake, and do a blog post about how Cake was left on my doorstep, and WITHIN MOMENTS, THE CAKE WAS THIS:

Perhaps the most profound, the most truthful relationship of my life. ASK ME IF IT’S EVEN NOON YET.
