Part of my job as a writer’s assistant is hardcore note-taking. It’s up to me to make sure I a.) get down every idea and story nugget that is tossed about that day, on the board or in conversation, and B.) the hard part – re-organize and send out in some digestable format. And I must say, it’s kind of hard, to figure out the most logical way to organize everything. There’s characters, then their relationships with other characters, then things they potentially say, then things they potentially do, and things that potentially happen to them, and whether or not they ride fixed gear bikes. But people, I DID NOT GO TO GRAD SCHOOL FOR NOTHING. I shall prevail. Also I wish that I had a writer’s assistant, all the time, who could, at any point in time, tell me what I was thinking about ten minutes ago. And then email it to me.
