A beer with Tina Howe

Little did Grad school bekah know, as she buried her face in Tina Howe’s play Painting Churches, that just a few years later, the two of them would share a Corona and talk shop. The Lark set up a dinner for the playwrights and alumns / current members of the Lark Lab (Sam Hunter, Katori Hall, Arthur Kopit, Tina, Saviana Stanescue) and it was just so enlightening and so great. At beers after, Tina talked tales of how her first ten plays got panned by reviewers, but she just continued because she loves it – and stressed how important it is to love it. I literally beamed with hope and inspiration. And then I drank more of her beer.
